"Wow what a transformation! Tons of brush and long grass cleared out due to a tournament and now it’s way more playable. Brand new bridges to cross the creek on 8. Signage still great but some of the distances and pin locations aren’t listed. The pins were in new locations that I had never come across previously and they were much more difficult. But the trade off is that you are way less likely to lose a disc so I am all for the improvements."

"Great course, definitely a good intermediate one. The cattail plants are at least 6 foot in some places currently so do your best to avoid them so you don’t have to search through them. "

"Detailed signs on every concrete tee pad. Baskets and walking paths have seen better days. Long bombers and technical approaches, worth the travel."

"Wouldn’t recommend playing right after rain. Long stretches of the path you have to follow get VERY flooded as well as the fields and no drainage. "

"The paths need repaving, signs to point you to the next hole would be nice. There are alot of ugly patches of dead grass. Other than that the course seems nice to play. Maybe I'm more blind than I am but I couldn't find hole 1 ... update hole 1 is behind the work shed in the back of the parks and recs building. I feel stupid now "

"The distances are incorrect on almost all the holes even for different pin placements. They're further than the signs say. Hole 2's pin position makes it easy to lose discs and so do some of the high grass holes. It has some decent holes and some good course design. Tee pad lengths are the courses strength. Very difficult to feel out the course on a first run through"

"Rough is awful on some holes, instant disc lost for 5 feet off the fairway. Many blind shots due to overgrown unkempt foliage, you will often be playing around swampy areas. Would only recommend coming in the mid or late fall once most plants start dying. "

"Decently fun course, however there is a lot of marsh land infested with mosquitos. Mosquito spray is a MUST. There was a cloud of 30 swarming me as I walked off the course."

"Shady Oaks is great for players of all skill levels. The course thrives on distance diversity and shape diversity despite it being a relatively open course. The biggest con of this course is it does not hold water well and is a legitimate swamp when there has been recent rain. The course tries to mitigate this as much as possible, but it's a reality that a few holes are not pleasant experiences after heavy rains."

"One of the best courses in the metro. Challenging enough for an intermediate to advanced player. Probably not great for beginners. Signage 4/5: Pretty good overall. Some vandalism and signage to the next tee would be nice for the unfamiliar. Tees 4.5/5: Run of the mill concrete tees. Can't really ask for too much more. Baskets 2.5/5: These need to be replaced. Design 4/5: Really well done with what there is to work with. A few "filler" holes but overall well designed. "

"One of the most difficult courses in the area for beginners. Beautiful scenery and well-kept course. First few holes were a bit confusing without the app. 8 ft tall grass will swallow up disks like monsters. Great open fields to practice drives. Some baskets positioned at different heights make it challenging and fun. Will not come back until i get better. "

"Let’s get Shady baby. What can I say? This place is a local gem! The course gets a lot of love from the natives (OG Elmo and the shady dubs crew plus birdbrain disc golf club) including multiple pin locations that are alternated weekly! While there is very little man made OB, the tall grass, creek, and dreaded swamp provide plenty of punishment for errant shots. Keep it in the fairway and choose your spots to get aggressive here. Baskets are still in great condition and the new tee signs! "

"I really wanted to like this place but seems like whoever designed it just tried way too hard and didn't use the land properly. u can only play there in the summer really without the risk of mud everywhere and lost discs. I'm no pro for sure but I walked up to almost every hole like wtf!! too much risk and no reward for the average golfer just lots of placement shots. not a fun place at all"

"This is a hard course. The shots themselves aren’t hard, but the combination of OB and hard pars make this course a challenge. I wouldn’t recommend any beginners to play here unless you are confident in your fairway accuracy. In the summers this place is the definition of a disc eater. 12 foot tall grass and swampy patches through out. "

"Course is a fun challenge. Multiple pin positions that change weekly to keep it fresh. Beware of errant shots into the tall grass/marsh as you will get punished for bad shots at this course. There are plenty of opportunities to lose plastic here, but dedicated locals (shout out RP) work hard to get these discs back into owners hands. Mark your discs with your number and you are likely to get them back. Have fun and keep it in the fairway!"
