Caution
Wet (just hole 17)
This is a very beautiful park and the course is very well maintained and it feels like you should be paying to play there it looks that good.
There is a pro shop in the nature center with bathrooms and water. They have a small selection of discs in case you lose one or something, but don’t rely on them having a big selection. Also, make sure they are open because they close early.
The course itself is very easy, but it shouldn't stop anyone from checking it out. There are a lot of young trees that will raise the difficulty in the future. In the meantime I would say this could be one of the best beginner starting courses around. Most tee shots allow for just about any line. The rough is thinned out on some holes and the river is very slightly in play on 2 holes so you could lose a disc there if the water is very high, but otherwise just watch for the thick foliage on some holes.
At the same time having almost all lines available makes for a great place to practice without worrying about hitting a tight wooded gaps and smacking discs off trees. There is some challenge and some really fun holes, especially 16. it's not baskets in an open field or just straight shots, it's well laid out and easy to navigate.
Beware that after a rain the water tends to get high on the river and holes 2-5 get very marshy and are unable to play without getting wet/muddy. Make sure there hasn’t been any rain in the recent past if you want to comfortably play all 18 holes.
There's plenty of wildlife (deer, coyotes, and hawks) and cars/bikes nearby that could tempt your dog to bolt, and park district rules require it, so please make sure it's on a leash. I've seen unleashed dog owners get warnings from the park district police.
